Study in China from Bangladesh: Steps, Documents and Timing

Study in China from Bangladesh

For most applicants from Bangladesh the practical question is which programme, in which language, and how early to start — especially for medicine, where requirements differ from other subjects. This page covers the route step by step.

How the application usually works

  1. 1
    Shortlist programmes, not just universities

Requirements are set programme by programme. Pick 3–6 specific programmes and read each programme page carefully.

  2. 2
    Prepare your documents

HSC certificate and transcripts for undergraduate entry, a bachelor's degree for postgraduate, plus recommendation letters, passport pages and the physical examination form.

  3. 3
    Choose the route

Apply directly to the university, or through the CSC scholarship route via the Chinese embassy — many applicants use both.

  4. 4
    Visa after admission

With the admission notice and the visa application form for foreign students (JW201/JW202), apply for the X1 visa at the Chinese visa application service centre.

Documents, and how they are legalised

  • Academic transcripts and certificates — HSC for undergraduate entry, a bachelor's degree for postgraduate.
  • Two recommendation letters from teachers or supervisors.
  • Passport photo page and a recent passport-style photograph.
  • The Foreigner Physical Examination Form, completed by a doctor.
  • Check whether the university wants a notarised copy, an apostille or consular legalisation, and whether the translation must be into Chinese or English. Requirements differ — confirm before paying.

Language of instruction

  • English-taught programmes: HSK is usually not required at entry; some ask for IELTS or TOEFL.
  • Chinese-taught programmes: HSK 4 or 5 depending on the university and subject.
  • Medicine (MBBS) programmes are usually taught in English. Check the licensing or registration requirements in your own country before you commit.

When to apply

  • The main intake starts in September; a smaller number of programmes also admit in spring.
  • Applications usually open in the previous autumn and close between January and April.
  • Scholarship rounds often close earlier than the university's own deadline, so start there if you need a scholarship.

Common questions

Can I apply with HSC results?

Yes, for undergraduate entry: universities ask for your HSC certificate and transcripts. Postgraduate programmes ask for a bachelor's degree.

What should I check before choosing an MBBS programme?

Check the language of instruction, the duration, the hospital training arrangement, and — most importantly — whether the qualification is recognised for practice in your own country. Requirements differ by country.

Do I need IELTS to study in China?

Not always. Many English-taught programmes accept a certificate showing your previous education was in English; others ask for IELTS or TOEFL.
