Choose the dormitory if…
- it is your first year and you want to settle in easily,
- you want the lowest cost and included utilities,
- you value being close to classes and campus life,
- you want the university to handle registration paperwork.
Choose an apartment if…
- you want privacy, quiet or space for a family,
- you are staying long term and can manage a contract,
- you have a specific location need (near a lab, internship, etc.),
- your budget allows for deposit and setup costs.
Either way
- Make sure your address is registered — it is required for your residence permit.
- Read any contract carefully; keep copies.
- Budget for utilities, internet and deposits if renting.
Options and prices vary by city and university. Ask your international office for local advice.
