Many students need a health check as part of getting a residence permit. It is usually done at a designated international travel-health centre or a hospital approved for this purpose.
What is checked
- General physical examination
- Chest X-ray
- Blood tests (including HIV and syphilis screening)
- Additional tests depending on age/condition
The results are recorded on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, which is stamped and signed.
When you need it
- If you entered on an X1 visa and are applying for a residence permit.
- If your home-country examination has expired or is not accepted.
- When your university requires a fresh check for enrolment.
Where to go
- Designated international travel health centres in major cities.
- Hospitals your university works with.
- Your university’s international office will usually tell you exactly where to go.
Practical notes
- Bring your passport, the form, and photos.
- Go early — results take time and the residence-permit window is limited.
- Some tests require fasting; ask when you book.
- Keep the original stamped form and a scan.
